Exploring Capacity Activity
Using different bottle containers (ex: shampoo bottle, Gatorade bottle, water bottle, etc.) mark off different points on the bottles (quarter, half, three quarters, full, ½, ¼, etc.) Fill a large container/tub with colored water (easier for viewing) and ask children to play around with the water and measurements on the bottles. Ask them to fill each bottle to the half way mark/full mark/quarter mark, etc. Encourage use of the measurement terms, ¼ = quarter, ½ = halfway, etc. For a reference of this activity, visit https://theimaginationtree.com/exploring-capacity-with-coloured-water/.
